DIY Christmas toys

I had a neat little log that I was planning to cut into circles and make placemats, but lack of any equipment (i.e. a band saw) kinda made the job way harder than worth the effort. I gave it a manual try anyway:

I did get my circles, but nowhere even enough for them to be destined to become placemats.

But I didn’t despair and made christmas toys out of them instead:

The burner (about £10) was afterall acquired just for cases like these, so it finally came out of the tool box. I had about ten circles that I (sketched the pattern on first then) burned in.

Result:

Conclusions: These make a neat little gift for christmas – unique and! recyclable (if gets old/unwanted). Doing preciscion woodwork is too much hassle without a bandsaw, and the tip of the woodburner can unscrew itself when heated up and used, so be careful about that.
